Summary:   This is the overarching general anti-cruelty law for the UK, which uses suffering as a key concept.


Statute in Full:

In 2006 the United Kingdom, which has a long history of animal welfare legislation, adopted a new Animal Welfare Act. This law replaces the 1911 law but still used the key concept of “unnecessary suffering”. (.pdf file 249 Kb).
