Federal Wildlife Law, Prof. David Favre, editor
|
ISBN # 0-9724103-7-6, 606 pages in 81/2 x 11 format.
Here at the Animal Legal & Historical Web Center, we recognized a need for a resource that gathers at hand—as well as helps to explain—many of the federal laws that deal with wildlife issues. While Federal Wildlife Laws does not cover every law, it does present essential material from the most often used and most often cited federal laws.
In innumerable areas of national and global commerce and culture, issues concerning wildlife often directly or indirectly play a part. Wildlife habitat is increasingly met with direct competition from economic development, our oceans are being emptied of species that, once gone, can never be brought back, and some countries want to re-introduce the commercial sale of whale meat. What does the law say about these issues? What is legal and illegal? How are the laws enforced? Federal Wildlife Laws has been compiled to help deal with these important questions.
In addition to an introduction to American wildlife law, as well as a detailed history of federal wildlife law of the 20th century, you’ll find between the covers of this text:
The Endangered Species Act The Lacey Act The Wild Bird Conservation Act The Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act The Marine Mammal Protection Act The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species
The laws of the materials listed above are presented in full, as well as the relevant regulations when necessary. In each section of the book we have also included an explanation of the law so that you, the reader, will have the relevant context for understanding the law. You can also find a full listing of endangered animals within the United States.
